Shrivenham Primary, Cambrian Learning Trust: Reduction of Published Admission Number (PAN)

Background 

Cambrian Learning Trust has been working closely with Oxfordshire County Council, the Local Authority, to consider the projected pupil numbers within Shrivenham and the surrounding areas.  This detailed work has highlighted that the number of school places required has reduced.   

The proposal 

The Published Admission Number (PAN) at Shrivenham Primary is currently 45.  This means that the number of pupils admitted to the school in Reception each year is a maximum of 45.  The CLT Trustees and Senior Leadership Team at Shrivenham Primary wish to reduce this by 15 places which will result in an annual pupil intake of 30, effective from September 2027 onward.  The proposed change still meets with the planned requirements.

Why reduce? 

Reducing the PAN will assist the Trust to provide stability in its long-term planning and allow the school to secure high-quality educational outcomes for the pupils currently on our roll, while continuing to provide an appropriate number of places for future pupil numbers in line with demand in Shrivenham and surrounding areas.  The Regulations and Code of Practice relating to school admissions require an admissions authority to carry out a consultation if the proposal is to reduce the PAN.  The Cambrian Learning Trust, as the admissions authority for Shrivenham Primary, is seeking comments on the proposed change.  It is important to the Trust Board and the Local Governing Committee, to hear the views of our parents and the wider community.  

Will it impact current pupils? 

There will be no impact on the current pupils, or those who choose to accept an offer in September 2026. 

Who can comment? 

All current and future parents, and all interested stakeholders can make comments on this proposal.
