The Faringdon Learning Trust, along with Mrs Scutt the Head Teacher, are pleased to share with the Shrivenham community that we are planning to relocate Shrivenham CoE Primary to within the new area of houses being built to the north of the village.
This move will provide the school an opportunity to grow to a 1.5 form entry, increasing from its current 1 form entry. The site will also be future proofed to expand further, to meet the needs of the village.
Under section 14 of the Education Act 1996, Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has a statutory duty to ensure sufficient school places and fair appropriate access to education for all. Faringdon Learning Trust has worked closely with OCC to meet the growing need for pupil places in Shrivenham.
With recent increases in housing in Shrivenham and the increasing numbers of pupils FLT needs to create further capacity to meet this need, as per its strategic plan.
As we propose to relocate the school FLT is required to undertake a statutory consultation with key stakeholders affected by the proposal. Pupils' views will also be invited.
Appraisals of the current school location make it clear that further expansion is not possible.
An opportunity arose, as new houses were being built, for OCC to use appropriate funding streams to project manage and fund the relocation of Shrivenham Primary school, in conjunction with the Faringdon Learning Trust.
We are seeking the views of all Shrivenham Primary stakeholders on the relocation of Shrivenham primary school.
The consultation will launch on the 1st July 2021 and will run until the 10th September 2021.
The consultation will be shared through the school newsletter and be available to complete on the school website.
A ParentPay will be sent to all parents to invite them to participate in the consultation.
A public drop-in will be held on the 7th July from 2.00-4.00pm at the Shrivenham Memorial Hall to meet and answer any questions from interested parties.
It will be available through the OCC consultation hub.
As the project develops, further information will become available, and this FAQ will be updated.
